Keswick Childminding is a family-orientated childcare business run by newly qualified teacher and early years practitioner, Emily Thompson, who is also a local mother of two gorgeous little monkeys (Joshua aged 7 and Islay aged 2).
The children are cared for in a loving family home environment and are provided with stimulating and inspiring activities according to individual needs and preferences. Working in a home environment, we have the flexibility to use and value personal circumstances and events in our learning, such as birthdays, personal or religious celebrations, and changes in family circumstances, such as the birth of a new baby in the family. We also take advantage of children’s personal interests developing from new books or children’s special items of interest – whether that’s Peppa Pig, or Elsa from Frozen!
Play helps young children to learn and develop their physical, social, emotional, creative and intellectual skills. We plan and provide a range of play activities, which help children to make progress in each area of learning and development.
We pride ourselves on being able to take advantage of local events, to visit places of special interest, and always work with parents to ensure the children in our care receive a wide range of experiences suited to individual needs.
Emily has an Early Years Education degree with qualified teaching status and more than five years experience working as an early years practitioner. Emily is an outdoor enthusiast who believes every child should be able to learn and develop through exploring and playing – outdoors as well as indoors.
Children in our care are able to access the outdoors daily in the garden. Arranged walks and visits will be pre-agreed with parents, and follow the philosophy of Forest Schools – to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through outdoor play supporting development in all areas of learning. As well as allowing children to enjoy the lovely area we live in the Lake District, which goes without saying of course!
We provide all meals and milk feeds as part of our service. Specific sleep areas will used according to children’s individual needs and can be provided in separate rooms, beds, cots or reclined pushchairs, depending on personal preferences. Again, we will pre-agree all this with all parents to ensure you’re happy with arrangements.
Keswick Childminding is Ofsted registered and insured. We are registered on the Early Years Register, the compulsory part of the Childcare Register as well as the voluntary part of the Childcare Register.
